Academy Bay Yacht Tour

This tour starts at Puerto Ayora’s main duck, where you board a small, swift boat. During the calm sea season (December to May), you may snorkel with sea lions at «La Lobería,» which is the first place to visit. In Punta Estrada, a protected region, there is another snorkeling option where you may swim with tropical fish, white tip sharks, and sea turtles. After that, you will land in a forested duck in Divine Bay to begin your first trek, which will be roughly a kilometre long and back and forth, to «La playa de los perros,» or the dog’s beach. This term, which has nothing to do with our domestic companion, refers to a popular variety of crab that was once quite common.

You will land in a separate duck in the same bay and stroll 1 km to «Las Grietas,» where you can swim or snorkel in a deep-water gap. Because the water here is a mixture of seawater and rainwater, it is typically colder than the ocean. On the rocks, you may come across some large parrotfish and other fascinating animals, occasionally even little marine iguanas. Because this is a popular recreational location, especially during the holidays and peak season, you will only have a short time here. The Academy Bay is where you embark to return to town; along the way, you can relax on «Los Alemanes» beach, the hike to get there will be about 1,5 km.
